Strauss Brands Commitment to Humanely Raised
Special-Fed veal

As of December 2008, 100% of Strauss Brands’ special-fed veal calves are raised tether-free and in a group raised environment. We were the first veal packer in the US to ban the use of tethers, putting us nine years ahead of the voluntary industry deadline.

By responsibly and thoughtfully raising our special-fed calves, we can improve their lives, conscientiously utilize a by-product of the dairy industry, and offer a higher quality product to our consumers.   

It is our hope that others will make this same commitment. By raising all veal calves in a 100% tether-free, group raised environment we have the ability to not only dramatically improve animal welfare, but to improve an entire industry.
